NBI - joining a Networking Group
Dear Karen
Reading this has sparked an idea that I need to look into an NBI group here in Athens as a means to re-spark my professional work or start a new one.
Funny thing is I met the creator of NBI Ivan
in 1985 when I was attempting to run a small
consulting and test creation company called
THE DISC SYSTEM, Inc.
Ivan was one of the existing users of the tests we had
in his worked.
Over the phone during 85 and part of 86 he explained his reasons for and projected goals for what he had created
NBI.
He tried to convince me to start a chapter in Atlanta
but i was working in Atlanta only when I wasn't on
assignment with clients around the mainland 48 states
and declined his offer and encouragement.
Then he tried to get me to start a chapter in Athens where I had been living since 1979. The idea interest me but
my previous experiences as a young architect from 1966 to 1979 before leaving that career behind were filled with memories of many negative experiences working
in groups on boards or committees.
I had grown to HATE wheat Eric Berne described
GAMES PEOPL PLAY
and
OFFICE POLITICS
or
DISCRIMINATION OF ANY KIND.
So once again I declined.
Due to my traveling over most of the years since 1980 and then into the 90s, 00s, 10s etc I have limited my involvement in organizations that meet regularly.
Now since reading you message above I am re-thinking that and will explore the NBI chapters or groups here in Athens looking for a fit for the 2016 version of Alan the Creative Thinking Advocate or Professional Skills Development Specialist.
