I have learned to carry an extra bag with me when I travel,
how to package and ship things (to avoid duty payments)
how to give away some clothing to make room for gifts and mementoes.

My house has them throughout from 43 years of traveling internationally.
I have met many people in different countries who have helped me find post offices and post office employees who helped me send many packages from the various countries home.

Only once did my shipping habit FAIL.

It was in 2001.

I packaged up dirty clothes, pamphlets, a few books and some miscellaneous small gifts clients or friends had given me in Copenhagen to send home in August of 2001.

One of the boxes did arrive in Athens over a month later in October or early November, completely empty.

The other box was never found.

The Danish post service provided proof that my packages were delivered to NYC as planned.

The NYC Post Service never found the second box.

My mistake, which had worked many other times before 9/11 was that I wrote my name and address in both

from and to  boxes or areas on the boxes

that was probably why my packages after 30 years of doing that were never delivered to me successfully.

Since then I have ALWAYS used a friend or a hotel's name and address to write in the

FROM       box/section on my packages.

maybe I could use the title

HAVE BOXES to SHIP WITH
WILL ALWAYS TRAVEL
