Individualized Teaching or Learning Plans

Individualized Teaching or Learning Plans

Darlene when I volunteered to be a Gifted Education Teacher for 23 academically gifted Elementary School Children in 1976, K-5, one was my late oldest son, Jeffrey.

In order to work with the children I started reading articles, books, journals about teaching, learning, etc.

John Holt and many rebels of the day

I ended up working on 4 degrees in Education from 1976 to 1983 complete two: MEd in Guidance and Counseling of Gifted, Talented and Creative and a PhD in Educational Psychology focused on the teaching and training of creative thinking skills, traits. and tools.

Too often principals and school systems and some teachers resist the concept of teaching for Creative Thinking.

Dr. Torrance and hundreds more devoted their work, their careers to integrating the teaching of Creative Thinking in US Schools.

Maria Montessori schools have been over 100 years

Sylvia Ashton-Warner, Jamie Escalante, Erin Grunwell and many teachers have too.

In the 1970s the message was ...forgot the acroynm

it stood for Individualized Learning Plan for EACH STUDENT upon needs and abilities from gifted to challenged.

Has that all disappeared in the last 40 years?
