PUSHING for 110% is IMPOSSIBLE & DANGEROUS
PUSHING for 110% is IMPOSSIBLE & DANGEROUS
I just read another 110% commitment message.
I don't remember who the first SELF-HELP or MOTIVATIONAL GURU first coined that phrase.
As a 74 1/2 year old, who has been passionate about 8 professions/careers I have learned that . . .
GIVING 110% is actually IMPOSSIBLE
Yes I too bought into that and this cute motivational phrase that I pitched for years and often still believe it can work some TIMES.
I'M POSSIBLE
is a good believe yet misleading too often and unrealistic or pragmatic and
D A N G E R O U S !
PUSHING ourselves to the LIMIT, EVERY TIME
more often than NOT will create PROBLEMS
mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, psychologically
James FIXX who started the JOGGING & RUNNING movement in the 60s.....RAN HIMSELF TO DEATH. His heart burst. He over exercised.
What happens to the human body when it is pushed too far, too long?
What happens to the human body when a person can NO LONGER EXERCISE to the same degree or amount?
Adele Davis who started the modern day VEGAN, VEGETARIAN movement in the 60s ....DIED FROM CANCER.
MEDICINE maybe science like but mostly is an ever changing ART and what different doctors, specialists know seldom can be proven consistently through thorough research in all body types, all cultures, all ages, all religions, all races.
as a friend and an old fart who tried to do the 110% type of commitment who often pitched this SELF-HELP, MOTIVATIONAL mantra...
Is IMPOSSIBLE not I'M POSSIBLE if I unrealistically push myself.
Dan Thurmon - 30 years of commitment to
LIVING OFF BALANCE ON PURPOSE
search for his videos, articles, books....contact him directly.
I met him the first day he came to GSA (now NSA-GA) this year he is NSA President. 25 or so years later.
Study TAO, iChing, Buddhist beliefs
choose plans and efforts to produce growth but not OBSESSION!
bodies wear out
minds wear out
relationships wear out
professions wear out
audiences wear out
suggestions from a friend who tried to PUSH, PUSH, PUSH
mentally, psychologically, physically and even socially at times
and discovered that the results can be negative or dangerous when we
PUSH TOO HARD,
TOO FAR,
TOO LONG.
if my words offend you....simply delete them.
May you fill your life with mild, moderate, realistic improvements and growth while filling it with
HAPPINESS TOO!
