I think you would be proud of me when I went grocery shopping yesterday
the mixed raw veggies bag had a rip and they had no more of them unripped so I asked them to put them in a plastic bag

what is your daily, weekly, monthly process for dealing with
cyclables, recycables, reuables, trash, food leftovers or bi-products
Beginning in 1986 when we moved into this house
I had separate (PLASTIC) stackable containers for plastic, metal, paper
i also had a mulching box (still outside)
insects of various types
rats
mice
stopped me doing that.
when my garbage disposal broke
I did not replace it
when my dishwasher broke last year I did not replace it
in many ways I have cut down on waste materials
and recyclable materials
I put out my trash meant for the dump each week
I put out my recyclables for pick up to be hopefully recycled.
2 times a month
I used to take all that to city pick locations

I separate glass and paper and send those for recycling. Any packaging that can be re-used, gets re-used. Food tins get used as containers for any number of things (I buys kids for them) pen holders, cutlery holders etc, styrofoam trays (except those
from meat) get used as paint palettes for kids art, plates for picnics, art projects etc. yoghurt. I keep plastic punnets from fruit and vegetables and re-use them for various things - Simon keeps his “collections” in them. They also make good pots for starting seedlings and cuttings as they drain well. Same for yoghurt pots. Fabric gets recycled as rags, other clothes, quilts, mats etc.

We have a compost heap too.
Even so, we produce a HUGE amount of garbage...sigh...

all of the things I did when Merry and Jessica were living in the same apartments or houses.
Since I began living alone in 1998 after Merry's death and Jessicia's marriage and I began traveling 5 to 7 months spread across the years I lost interest in
being that committed.
Thanks for sharing
plastic lids from containers I still keep until I too many than I recycle
glass, metal containers I generally trash because I have hundreds of containers and do not need more and because I do not want to deal with pests or washing them any longer.

Penny when I worked from my home and slept here most of the time from 1986 to 1998 I did many of the things you shared above.
since I began living out of hotel rooms, pensions, youth hostels, Servas Hosts homes, friends homes, conference centers most of the time throughout the year
returning home for a couple days every once in awhile
all my recycling habits and routines STOPPED.
Do your friends, neighbors, relatives, fellow workers practice the same habits and routines as you and William and the kids do?

Not really - except for the paper and glass recycling. People around me find it strange and it drives William mad...
