Dear S - ECONOMICS 101:
What % of rich freely give $w/o being forced to by TAXES
V.
Good question
SC
Oh, you know, the rich will be so happy they have no more taxes that they will gratefully pay more with all contributions delivered by the Easter Bunny
Alan
or Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy.
MS
I know a lot of rich people with truly good and generous hearts.
ST
To get some interesting answers with facts and data on that question, read the book "Who Really Cares" by Arthur Brooks.
CD
The Walton family, considered to be among the stingiest of the rich people, gave 0.04% of their net worth. Or only a measly $56,000,000.
Which is more than you, I, or nearly anyone will give in our lifetimes.
Alan
tis true....but didn't Jesus say....
S
It would be nice if they gave their employees a living wage, health care & retirement.
Alan
I was laughing with two Wal-Mart employees yesterday about how often some people
ATTACK WAL-MART on Facebook
the older one smiled when I hinted at the
living wage, health care or retirement issue Susan
no hotel
most restaurants
many to most service companies
provide living wages, health care or retirement plans
All things that unions fought for
over the past 100 years and many DIED for
now the business owners call them ENTITLEMENTS
rather than FAIR COSTS of DOING BUSINESS.
and then want the TAXES and PROGRAMS repealed.
Yuppie Creed
"I got mine.
You get yours."
so don't just point the finger at WAL-MART
all my working life I have been aware of people who worked 2, 3 or 4 jobs to pay for their CHOSEN LIFESTYLES....
cell phones
big screen tvs
trailers or motor homes
fancy new cars every 3 years or less
the AMERICAN DREAM
own more than you can afford
and bitch about it
